Ruslan Salei Tribute: Life in Sand
Ruslan Salei's fortieth birthday would have been yesterday. Salei was a former NHL defenseman who was killed in 2011 when the airplane taking his hockey team, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, crashed shortly after takeoff. Salei was captain of the Belarussian national team, which held a charity tournament in his honor. At the opening ceremonies, this sand art was created to commemorate him. It's a stunning five minutes.
