So how does Hamburger Helper get such a great thing to happen? It's a pretty cool story.
As the Los Angeles Times reports, General Mills kicked the idea around for a while before reaching out to musicians in the vicinity of their Minneapolis headquarters. Everyone took the idea seriously.
"We like to take pride in what we do, and we didn't want to give [General Mills] anything bad," [Madrigal] said. "We work really hard but don't take ourselves too seriously. We have fun."
Seriously, go check this out. It's an April Fools Day joke, a marketing idea done right, and the mixtape of the year so far all in one. I love the internet.
