Political voting systems explained by C.G.P. Grey
This will be the first and only time this year we will get any kind of political on The Dailies. Our goal is to focus on the good in the world, which natually excludes politics. This year has been especially bad, with the choices feeling like voting for Kang or Kodos. We will not be voting for either.
But we don't hate the player; we hate the game. The US uses a "First Past The Post" voting system, which, as C.G.P. Grey explains in a terrific animal kingdom metaphor, is really problematic:
We've long favored either a proportional representation or single transferrable vote system, and luckily for us, Grey has a video about each!
A final note: any vote for the winning candidate above one more than they need is automatically a "wasted vote," so don't let that argument persuade you to vote for a candidate you don't agree with.
