In Poland, they're experimenting with a roadway made of particles that charge in the daylight and glow for up to ten hours at night:
There's been other examples of this in other countries but they've usually used LEDs. This uses crystal-like particles of phosphor, which require no power. Also, they look really cool. It'll be fun to see how this develops.
