THe best burgers in America
Ahead of Labor Day, why not explore the best burgers in the country? We've got two interesting approaches to this. First, Thrillist comes up with a list of the top 100 burgers, including ones like this beauty from Dallas:
Named for the late, great food writer and burger aficionado Josh Ozersky (who tended to prefer his burgers spartanly simple), this is the best burger in Dallas, a city that might boast the best overall burger atmosphere in the country. And yet there are no bells and whistles on the Ozersky. It's just pure 44 Farms beef, thick, salty, with a pure, clean meaty aftertaste. The thinly sliced red onions and bread and butter pickles give just the proper amount of balance to honor the man behind the name, and the man behind the grill. Plus, you can stay in the hotel Knife is housed in and order it over and over again for room service.
The other approach is what First We Feast did, documenting the best burgers in each state. We've long heard good things about Fukuburger, and this seems to confirm them:
After a few years as a food truck, the Japanese-inspired burger hot spot landed on the Strip. Skip the expensive celebrity chef burgers all over town and head here for the Fukuburger, bursting with crazy umami and wasabi mayo. Ask for some “crack” sauce too for your damn fries in. There’s also a FukuMoco on the menu if you’d like a taste of a real Hawaiian burger (see Hawaii entry).
