Retcon (v., RET-kahn)
Short for "retroactive continuity," it's the practice of giving new information that reinterprets old events or ignores them in favor of a new interpretation. The classics would be the butler-did-it murder mystery or bringing back Sherlock Holmes in "The Adventure of the Empty House;" the modern would be a comic book reboot.
