The Dailies

Word of the Day

Vernacular (n., verr-KNACK-you-lurr)

The everyday language of the people or things that relate to everday use. Vernacular can also refer to the specific terms that are used every day by a specific profession or group, which is a little confusing. That's one vernacular for you and a different one for me.

Stunt pilot flies plane to safety after single engine failure

This is both a bit scary and also textbook:

In a previous lifetime, The Dailies had a little bit of airplane training. This pilot did everything right. First, there's the presence of mind to turn the plane and get it to an open area where he could put it down. Then there's the efforts to get the plane into a position where it could land, even without the engine. Finally, there's the repeated attempts to get the engine running again. All these things are what you should do in a situation like this. It's a white-knuckle video, but it's also a great demonstration of staying calm and doing the right things in a potentially bad situation. Glad it worked out for him.

Happy Friday

Accordions = cow magnet

As a friend noted, it's literally playing until the cows come home.
