Haddon Heights Library

One of the direct influences on The Dailies was the Haddon Heights Library. It's the place that cultivated our interest in learning and discovering new things.

I had a habit of burning through libraries when I was younger, but the Haddon Heights Library has always surprised with how well it's adapted, staying fresh and interesting throughout its time. Part of this was the staff. Bob Hunter was a great librarian who brought on Chris Walter to first assist with newfangled technology and later to become chief librarian. Kathy Bernardi became a longtime fixture in the kids department. A variety of other people cycled through there, often for multiple years. As a result, the library added new features over time, shifting from a books-only place to a center for youth learning and (gasp) entertainment. The Heights Library is at the center of town, both geographically and culturally.

Of all the libraries I've been to, the Haddon Heights Library is my favorite—not just because it was great but also because it was mine.
