Word of the Day

Whippersnapper (n., WIP-purr-SNAP-purr)

A young, inexperienced, and probably overconfident fellow. The kind who will ring your doorbell and expect you to put the candy in the basket for them. Or the kind that will expect that you have never, ever seen a ding dong ditch and that means they can get away with it.

Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, 4th movement - Gustavo Dudamel

Every week, during the Solid Verbal's recap podcast, one of the hosts will do a dramatic reading an inept team's drives from their last football game. PUNT, PUNT, INTERCEPTION, PUNT, PUNT, FUMBLE,...END. OF. GAAAAME. It's a terrific way to celebrate ineptitude. In the background, they play the famous opening from Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, 4th movement. We remember the piece but couldn't place it until we stumbled on this gem of a performance from 2007:

Whether it was because Pope Benedict XVI was sitting there or Gustavo Dudamel was an energetic youth or because everything just worked right, that was one fantastic performance.
