Word of the Day

Cant (n./v., CANT)

A particular angle or slant, to lean to one side, or tedious, hifalutin language used in a holier-then-thou way or to use wording in this way. Think of it this way: there's two meanings, one about being slanted, one about language. The word can be used to mean that thing and the act of doing the thing. Confusing? A bit. But also useful.

Archipelago Gin rebranding

Archipelago Gin is a distinctly Filipino product, but it needed to go worldwide. Full Circle Craft Distillers, who owned the company, asked branding agency And A Half to create a bottle that could be sold worldwide but deeply underlined the distillery's heritage. The result is some of the most stunning artwork we've seen in a very, very long time:

This is unbelievably good work. It's old-school art and ideals mixed with modern approaches and design systems. The fact that the monochromatic labels work as well as they do is impressive too.

There are a lot more photos on And A Half's website. Go check them out.
