The Needlepoint Pew Cushion Project

This might be one of the most enjoyable stories I've read recently. A Portland, OR church had cushions that were in bad shape in 1980 after 65 years of use. One member often visited a church in an English town whose pews had needlepoint cushions featuring scenes from the Bible as well as other local events and buildings. She brought the idea back with her, and they started to work. Almost forty years later, their work is nearing completion:
