Word of the Day

Pilcrow (n., PILL-crow)

The paragraph symbol (¶). The word has a funny origin. The Old French of paragraph is "paragrafe" or "pelagraphe", which resulted in the Middle English "pilcraft", which comes from "pill" (to peel or make bald) and "craft" (whose meaning hasn't changed). So a pilcrow is a symbol which skillfully makes bald.
