Word of the Day

Revanchism (n., ruh-VANCH-ih-sum)

A policy of retaliation, especially to regain territory lost in a war or conflict. It's a French word, which is odd because, y'know, France and conflict, but it makes perfect sense because only the French could make "never know when you are beaten" into a relaxed, smooth-sounding, intriguing word.

LEGO Football Factory

It took 600 hours to build, says the title card at the end. It's 5 feet by 19 feet in size. Five hundred LEGO balls go through it.

This is not a normal LEGO thing you or I would build.

This reminds me a lot of the big ball machine on the second floor of the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. It's a treat to watch the intricate mechanisms in this machine. So much careful planning—and joy, too.
