Word of the Day

Truncheon (n., TRUN-shun)

A billy club, baton, or other short stick, carried by police as a weapon and a symbol of authority, which you will respect. What it is not is some kind of morning meal.

Climing down the Pitesti chimney

Pitesti, Romania is home to a 918-foot chimney, which climber Flaviu Cernescu decided to climb down from the top:

WARNING: Do not watch if you are afraid of heights.

That is an exceptionally long twelve minutes. The section without the safety cage is especially tense, especially how the wind kicks up. One other odd thing from the video is how the ground never seems to get close until the last few jumps. It almost goes from "aerial photography" to "far away" to "I'm here" very suddenly.

Whatever the case, we can agree that answering your cell phone at 800 feet above the Earth on a ladder is nuts.
