In a wonderful blend of old and new technologies, Mojoptix has unveiled a sundial that displays time like a digital clock. The sundial does this not with electronics but with very carefully placed holes:
Even with the limitations (the sundial only works from 10:00am–4:00pm each day and displays time in 20min increments), this is a really cool project. Perhaps even better: Mojoptix released a "How to make your own" video (below) and all the design files for you to print your own. (You can also buy one for about $80.)
