The Dailies often features new things, often videos or stories. But sometimes, it's good to revisit an older favorite. Today, we're featuring one of our favorite authors, David Macaulay.
Macaulay trained as a designer with a background in architecture. His books, especially his Caldecott-winning debut Cathedral, feature incredibly detailed drawings:
But the book we most love is The Way Things Work, which blends detailed explanation of how things work with whimsy and vivid ideas:
And mammoths. Did we mention mammoths?
We highly recommend these books, even if only for looking at the pictures. They're worth the purchase by themselves.
