Word of the Day

Flaunt (v., FLONT)

To dramatically, shamelessly show oneself, doing so in a way that draws attention and envy. This word is also used (incorrectly) to mean disregarding rules—but that's because people who do so are flaunting their grammatical lawbreaking.

The Lone Man Building a Cathedral by Hand

53 years.

Justo Gallego has been building his cathedral, alone, by hand, for 53 years. He is 90. The building is nowhere near completion. There are no plans about succession or who will complete it. Still he works on it.

Is this foolish? Is it commendable? The film doesn't talk to anyone but Gallego—after all, it is one man's cathedral—which places the interpretation squarely on us. And I'm not sure how I feel.
