The Dailies became fans of the New Jersey Nets during the early 2000s, when Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin led decent teams through an awful conference to two NBA Finals appearances. The Nets did not win, of course. They are a weird franchise: never great, occasionally decent, mostly bad, sporadically dysfunctional, currently disastrous, and always entertaining.
A big reason for the "entertaining" part is broadcaster Ian Eagle. He's been with the team for almost 25 years—a stretch with many more awful years than successful ones—and consistently brings the goods. Broadcasts are well-done but also fun, as this compilation shows:
One of the best parts of that compilation is the Nets schedule Pictionary with his co-host. Probably the best example of it ">is this clip:
Finally, there was that time where Eagle briefly changed his name on-air:
As good as he is on broadcasts, he's equally gracious and enjoyable in other interviews. He's made many a boring Nets game enjoyable. Happy birthday, sir.
