A broad strip or path of something, often a line of freshly mown grass or the wake of a boat. A place where you can see what was before and the effect of what has come after. Also a fun word to say (as long as you don't accidentally use "swath" in place of "suave").

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 comes out today. We're fans of things that don't take themselves too seriously, are well made, and embed themes into a narrative, and Guardians Vol. 1 did that magnificently.
One of the best parts of the movie was the 70s pop soundtrack, which director James Gunn deployed with precision and panache. This was labeled "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" in the film—but not officially released until fan clamor demanded it. Instead, people compiled the mixtape on YouTube. It's still awesome.
