The Dailies

Link of the Day

Charlottesville

When tragedy happens, The Dailies faces a conundrum: do we keep on keeping on, focusing on the beauty in the world around us, or do we acknowledge the evil? Typically, we lean to the former. But sometimes a tragedy is so awful that we are forced to stop our normal routines. Please note: this does not and will not mean commenting on it. Virtue signaling immediately after a moment of tragedy is an evil in itself, I think. We weep with those who weep.

The book of the Psalms features many laments: songs that are floods of emotion questioning why things are the way they are and pleading for divine aid. This type of song has influnced many songs in the modern era, especially popular anthems of the Civil Rights era. This, to us, is the right kind of immediate response. Today, we feature a song from a mixed-race band that beautifully sums up our feelings. Enjoy, and love your brother.
