Disabuse (v., diss-uh-BYOOZ)

To free someone from believing a falsehood they once held to be true. The classic example is Santa Claus. The more modern is trust in government (see: dystopian YA novels). The one that happens every January is the belief that the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl.
