Word of the Day
Portentous (adj., poor-TEN-tuss)
Foreboding, significant and awe-inspiring or pompous. You're on a boat. It's getting near dark, and it looks like there may be some lightning in the distance. "We really better get back soon," you murmur, turning to go downstairs and find the captain.
Suddenly, a whale breaches. With a blast of spray, it leaps upwards out of the water, stopping to silhouette itself against the setting sun before crashing into the water below.
"GUYS." Jeremy starts to speak. "We have just witnessed an incredible thing. That was a North American Right Whale. They are endangered because they have been hunted for two hundred years. We were only able to see that because the whale trusts us, and that's only because he knows we weren't trying to hunt him. We have to tell this message to others. If we don't, then this moment will have been wasted."
You go and find the captain.
