The art of making a tapestry
This video from the Getty Museum is a great overview of how tapestries are made. It is as time-intensive as you think:
That is an impressive level of dedication. It's also curious how much this process really hasn't changed from its roots. Most of these steps are manual, most involve a few people. There's little new machinery or technology added to the process. Perhaps the process has been perfected? Either way, a stunning amount of effort for something that good.
