One documentary we've found ourselves recommending to people time and again is Ben Niles' "Note By Note." It's the origin story of a Steinway piano, from start to finish. There's plenty of fascinating behind-the-scenes footage showing how this large piece of beautiful craftsmanship comes into existence, as you can see in the trailer:
We've featured a lot of "how it's made" items on The Dailies. Part of that is because we find them fascinating. Part is because we think there's something valuable to knowing what goes into the things we use. Part is because their craftsmanship shows us the value of detailed, disciplined, hard work. "Note By Note" is one of the better examples that we've seen. Go check it out.
