Word of the Day

Despotic (adj., dess-POD-ick)

Ruling with absolute, oppressive power. Note: "despot," the root word, is pronounced DESS-put. "Despotic" is pronounced with the emphasis on the second syllable, not the first. Get this wrong and you will find out what despotic grammar policing means.

Norfolk State Marching Band does a tunnel

When marching bands exit a stadium or arena, they'll sometimes do a "tunnel" where the drum corps line up opposite each other and play as the rest of the band marches out. It's these times that show attention to detail and precision. Everyone's exhausted. It's just the exit. But when a band does it well, it's really cool to watch. Norfolk State did just that:

First off, as noted in the comments, the guy on the quads in the near left is really, really good. Second, that routine has apparently been used at Norfolk State back to the 1980s. Finally, the unison on the drums on the far side of the street is crazy impressive. It didn't look like anyone missed any beats even slightly. Mad props to NSU.
