Supermassive black hole!!
You probably already know about this, but it's still cool: scientists have released the first ever image of a black hole. It took years of work, coordination, and careful attempts to get the photo, as Sky and Telescope details well. In the end, it's proof of something theorized and popularized but never actually confirmed. And, of course, it looks both like the Eye of Sauron and like Einstein predicted.
