Today is Richard Scarry's 100th birthday. There's not a lot to say about him that hasn't already been written. His books were beloved and tremendously influential on a large portion of internet denizens. We'll leave a couple links for you to enjoy his work:
First, there's an appreciation of "What Do People Do All Day?" over at Bat Bean Beam. Although we don't quite share the utopian reading of Scarry's work, it's a good appreciation of the book's view of work and society.
The other interesting article is Mental Floss' 12 facts about Richard Scarry. It is unsurprising but crazy to think that there are 1,400 objects in "Richard Scarry's Best Word Book Ever."
Finally, Lowly Worm has a Twitter account, because why not.
