Japanese artist On Kawara traveled widely during the early 1970s. During his trip, he started a postcard series, sending friends and family a card from anywhere he was, only noting the time he rose that morning. It's whimsical, right? But it also turned into a curious everyday ritual. Kawara, disconnected from normal routines, created one that others could take enjoy too.
You can see more of Kawara's decade-long series and some other details over at Flashbak.
