The Dailies

Note: The Dailies will not be updating for a week, since we will be on vacation. Regular updates will resume on Wednesday, September 30.

Word of the Day

Amanuensis (n., a-MAN-you-ENN-siss)

Someone who is employed to take dictation or copy manuscripts. This word comes from the Latin for "(slave) at handwriting," which is undoubtedly how some monks felt when they were asked to copy yet another book. Enough already, Cardinal Business XXVIII! It can wait!

Over The Rhine - All My Favorite People

The last month at Dailies Central has been unusually difficult. There's been challenges and discouragement in many different areas. The quality of The Dailies has suffered too: I haven't felt like I've found (or had the time to review) really good things for posting, and I'm not great at feigning interest when writing up lesser content. All this to say that this vacation comes at a good time, and not just because of avoiding the impending Popocalypse.

We'll be back next Wednesday with some good material. In the meantime, enjoy this excellent, heartfelt gem of a song:
